Larry
Ironwood Newfoundlands
Larry is licensed by AKC to judge
Newfoundlands and St. Bernards.
Most recently applied for Great Danes
and Dobermans currently awaiting
provisional status.

Always interested in improving the
quality of Newfoundland judging and
breeding, he is a breed judge mentor
for the Newfoundland Club of America,
and has lectured on the Newfoundland
breed at seminars for prospective as
well as licensed judges.

Larry has judged Newfoundlands at
several specialties and all-breed
shows.  He was honored to judge at
the 2007 Newfoundland Club of
America national in
Denver.
In 2003 we were very excited to travel to Germany for a week where Larry judged at the German Newfoundland Specialty
show.  We met so many wonderful people in the European Newfoundland world, several of whom have since become
our friends. From these friendships we have imported two lovely bitches from Skipper Kennels in Hungary and are very happy
to have made friends with Bela and Gabriella Siklosi. We were so impressed with the quality of the Newfoundlands while
visiting in Germany, we feel very fortunate to have these girls at Ironwood.

In 2007 we again traveled to Europe where Larry judged at the First Fed Cup, with both Slovakian and Czech Republic
Newfoundland Specialties, and on to Budapest, to judge a Saint Bernard specialty. Larry was very honored to judge in
these shows. We saw excellent quality Newfoundlands and Saint Bernards and made some wonderful new friends.  We were
very excited to visit Skipper Kennels and had a delightful time with Bela and Gabi.  We cannot thank them enough for their
hospitality.

In September of 2008 Larry was honored to judge the French National Specialty.  We met many new friends in France and
were delighted to visit with judges, exhibitors and their Newfs.  In November 2009 Larry is headed to Concord, NC where he
will judge the SENC Newfoundland specialty and Saint Bernards for the Monroe Kennel Club. Look for him there!

In 2010 we are headed back to Hungary where Larry will judge in several very large shows in Pecs, Hungary, the cultural
capital for 2010 in Europe. We are very excited to also celebrate the first wedding anniversary of our dear friends Bela & Gabi
Siklosi, after the shows.

In the years before Larry became a licensed judge, he handled our Newfoundlands as well as those of owners in the U.S. and
Japan. As he became accomplished as a handler of  Newfoundlands, owners of other breeds began asking him to show their
dogs. He showed everything from Irish Wolfhounds to Border Terriers!  Larry was often asked to judge at local B matches,
which encouraged his interest in becoming an AKC judge, yet another aspect of the dog world.  Even as a licensed judge
Larry enjoys judging at AKC matches and the kinship of the dog world.
